Just an update on what's been happening these past couple of weeks:

• KSDT's site went down and we lost the electroacoustic show that we did (le sigh).




• Last week KSDT had a little festival dubbed Shun God with tons of pretty good bands (obviously I'm biased towards my own duo M&M Blues)

NO WAVE

No Wave History:

1. Rock music becomes trendy because people think it sounds original and anti-establishment, though it is essentially tonal music with 4 chords.

2. Rock music becomes cliche and instead punk music becomes trendy because people think it sounds original and anti-establishment, though it is essentially tonal music with 4 chords.

3. Note bands like Ramones, Sex Pistols, Black Flag, the Clash, etc. are not too different from the Who, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, etc. (minus poor musicianship)

4. No Wave is the only genuine anti-art movement in this tradition.

Touch and Go

Touch and Go didn't just have a lot of bands, but a lot of GOOD bands. Phenomenal stuff. To this day, groups like Mi Ami and Crystal Antlers are interesting and original. Touch and Go is no longer around. We reviewed some of the best groups they supported for nearly three decades.

Turntablism

Turntablism! Most equate turntablism with hip hop, dance clubs and cheesy beats. On our show we took an art music approach at turntablism. Indeed, music featured show the turntable as a serious art instrument with loads of potential and exploration.
